Dissappointing Result of the Boerboel Assault Case

FEEDBACK - BOERBOEL ASSAULT CASE
Readers may recall that criminal charges in terms of the Animals Protection Act were laid against Johan Lee of Middelburg, Mpumalanga following a malicious and unprovoked attack on his own Boerboel. Footage from a security camera showed him hitting the dog with a pick handle and rendering a further blow as the dog lay unconscious.
He entered a plea of guilty in Court on 06 October. He was sentenced to a R3 000.00 fine of which R2 000.00 is suspended for three years, the R1 000.00 being payable to the SPCA Middelburg. A 30-day prison sentence was also imposed, suspended for three years. He was additionally sentenced to 40 hours of community service to be undertaken at the Middelburg SAPS dog unit.
Until next time
With kind regards Chris Kuch
